3 Must Have Jackets for Fall

As the weather continues to sort it self out I've been wearing a lot of layers. Fall is a fun time to play with jackets that feel too structured for spring, and are too hot for summer. In this post, we're talking about three jackets that will help you navigate fall style no matter how cool the temperatures drop. All of these can also be worn in the winter season as well!

A BLACK BLAZER
If you don't have a black blazer in your wardrobe, what are waiting for? They come in everything from super structured all-weather wool to knit and sweater styles. If your profession dictates what kind you should get then let that be your guide, otherwise choose something that will fit in with the wardrobe and lifestyle you lead right now.
I've chosen a knit one with 3/4 ruched sleeves. I'm constantly rolling my jacket sleeves up, so this saves me the hassle, and they have that perfect cool look vibe already. I also love that a knit moves with my body. Whether I'm picking a kiddo up for a hug, or on the floor reading books, a knit works for me. Pair your black blazer with something more casual, like a T-shirt, for a cool girl vibe and shorts or with something more structured for a work option. Still having trouble deciding? Think of your jackets like cardigans that you don't close.

A STRUCTURED WOOL JACKET
This jacket can be in any color that suites you. I chose a light brown sugar one (as stated in tomorrow's video), because it felt more in line with my fall clothes than a black structured blazer. This one has interesting detail on the inside, and when you roll up your sleeves you not only get that cool gal vibe, you also get a peek at some interesting men's wear detail. I like to pair structured pieces with other simple pieces like: T-shirts, scarves, and jeans. Swap out the scarf for a necklace, like I did and you look effortless. With an outfit like this you can do anything and go anywhere. Change your shoes and you bag for whatever occasion you are up for.

QUILTED JACKET
I think it's safe to say that the quilted look is making a comeback in fashion. I don't know if it's because of the astronomical rising prices of luxury houses like Chanel who are known for their quilted bags, or if it's just fashion making a cycle again. Quilting isn't just for bags anymore however, it's in jackets as well.
I saw a magazine layout for a British based store where they paired a cropped quilted jacket with a pleated skirt, and I about fell out of my chair. It was beautiful and so unexpected. I was not able to find a cropped version in my price range, so I opted for this one by LEVI'S. It's incredibly warm, perfect for fall weather, and it works great with shorter skirts, pants, and cropped pants. Not so great with midi and maxi skirts and dresses (sigh), but I'm much more into the shorter skirts this season anyway so I still think it is a win. I chose a neutral navy color to go with most of my fall skirts and pants, but if you're feeling brave I say try a pop of color. Just make sure that it will go with more than one outfit...we've all been there.
