3 Ways to Wear a Faux Leather Skirt

This week is all about the faux leather skirt. This skirt was a work horse for me in the fall, and now I want it back in my life. Faux leather is such a fun way to play in the land of skirts because it offers a different texture. It's shiny, non breathable (great for colder weather), and in a great brown caramel color. I also like that this one from LOFT is a little longer.

OUTFIT 1
This is the most casual of all the outfit options, but it's really fun. This outfit has a lot of personality, without being distracting. Take it down a notch with a more delicate earring and it could be leveled up a bit. Add some burgundy tights for the fall and we are in business for later this year.
Working with tone on tone is a great place to start any outfit, and also a very comfortable way to dress. Even though the pattern is large on the sweater, it's not over the top because of the colors. Put this same sweater in two bright colors and it becomes too much. When something is in the same tonal family you can get away with bigger patterns.
Where are we wearing this? Anywhere. Business casual, great teacher outfit, pick ups, drop offs, etc.

OUTFIT 2
First let me say that this blouse just makes me so happy. Every time I put it on, I feel polished and ready to go. I love the muted pattern. This makes it timeless to me and so much more accessible to pair with skirts and pants than a louder pattern (though I love those too). The hero of the outfit is the blouse, but because we're pulling the tan outline color into the skirt everything is talking to one another. This is a great one for work. It says pay attention to me, I have something interesting to say (in a very subtle way). Add a jacket for another texture or warmth and you've just created another outfit option.

OUTFIT 3
The outfit options for a white button down are endless. Seriously. This one is a tunic style, so it works really nicely with skirts. When you wear a white button down you look crisp, like you have control over your life, and a little chic. This outfit is easy to put together, easy to wear, and easy to repeat as often as desired. The more classic you go the more you'll be able to wear your pieces year after year and week after week. People will be looking at you, and not your patterned top.
