3 Ways to Wear a Tweed Skirt


Nothing says a weather change like a tweed skirt...or is that just me? I love tweed, there's no denying it. It makes getting dressed easy because you can pull any of the colors from the skirt into the shirt/top/blouse and look polished and put together. Check out all the different options below.


OUTFIT 1

This is the most feminine option. It takes you back to the 1960's with a nod to a little Jackie O. I love using a cardigan as a pullover with most of the buttons buttoned. It's sleek, classic, and a no brainer. Pair it with some fun tights in burgundy or navy for a twist. This outfit gets you anywhere from business casual to brunch. Play with your shoes as well for more options. Flats for sweet and collegiate, kitten heels for a more fashion vibe.

OUTFIT 2

This is a more dressed up version of outfit 1 with a masculine twist. Not only are we saying goodbye to the pink wash of color, we're also adding in a twist on a man's oxford shirt. With this outfit we are still playing with the collegiate business casual side of things, but this one is a little less sweet. Pairing a feminine skirt with a masculine shirt is a great way to add visual interest without calling attention to anything. The outfit is interesting without being over the top. You'll also notice that with the blue, different colors in the tweed are starting to pop out a bit more than in outfit 1.

OUTFIT 3

When you add a white or cream blazer to anything it immediately dresses up the items of clothing you are pairing it with and also adds a level of sophistication. The blazer is a more modern cut, yet still tailored. It's not oversized, and it has a (surprise!) hood on the back. This makes it more fun and less corporate. Perfect for stay-at-home moms or anyone who wants to add a little sophistication to their spring wardrobe. Where are you wearing this? Anywhere. As Rachel Zoe says, don't be too delicate with your clothing. If you feel good in something wear it. Wear sequins to the grocery store. Have more fun with your clothes.
