3 Ways to Wear Grey Denim

With spring right around the corner I wanted to start lightening up my denim, but I'm not 100% ready for that brighter blue. In the midwest it's still snowy and chilly. I know that if I go full on spring too soon I'll have a little mental melt down when I'm freezing in my spring wardrobe. This year I'm going practical with a twist. Grey denim, or a black wash, is how I'm tipping my toe into spring.

OUTFIT 1
This outfit is just fun. It has drama because of the length of the duster and it's playing with a trend for this year which is sporty. Just to be clear, a lot of trends are repeats of previous years. Horizontal stripes are usually pretty popular in spring so hold onto your spring pieces from last year because they will probably come back around. While this outfit is on the more casual side I like to add a pop of femininity with the pink pumps. It dresses up the outfit just enough to feel more special then wearing sneakers or loafers. Also, because the duster is so long, the pumps help to elongate the body. Wear this for running errands on the weekends or anytime you need a little extra coverage for your T-shirt and denim look.

OUTFIT 2
This outfit is a great way to start wearing your blouses again if you needed to take a break because of weather. For me, I can't wear a blouse unless it's at least 40 degrees outside. I'm in and out of the car a lot for pick ups and drop offs, errands, etc. I also run cold. However, I love a blouse with denim. It's such a fun juxtaposition between dressy and casual. I also like that this blouse isn't overpowering and timeless. Wear it alone if weather permits for a bohemian vibe, or with a sweater for more business casual. This look would also be killer with a wider leg denim which is very popular for spring.

OUTFIT 3
This outfit feels a little like a dare. It's got a lot of masculine vibes going on which is balanced out by the ruffles in the plaid shirt and the pink pumps. Pink and navy is such a killer combo for spring and a more fun way to dress than going with blue or navy shoes. I also love this look with a mustard heel as well. Wear this for a casual meeting, running errands, or just because you're feeling like a boss that day. Don't be afraid to mix and match your blues. As long as there is only one hero (in this case the plaid shirt) in the outfit, mixing your hues and saturation levels of one color is a great way to add interest to your outfit.
