Building a Uniform

We're not talking about those uniforms that you put on over your clothes. Today we are talking about those essential items you have in your closet that are no brainers for you and make you feel incredible. With spring coming, I know that I'm looking at cleaner lines, and wanting to give my sweaters a break. I want button downs in lots of patterns to pair with my skirts. Maybe for you it's pants, or a jacket that gets you out of bed in the morning. Whatever those essential items are, start building at least a five day wardrobe around those things that make you feel your best.

Once you discover your "it" item, then spend some time playing in your wardrobe. Do you have enough tops to go with those bottoms, and vice versa. Do you have complete outfits? I'm guilty of this. I continue to buy half outfits. Meaning, I've got a great outfit until you see my shoes and handbag. Mostly I neglect my shoes. Make sure you have your five days of outfit from head to toe. This will make shopping so much easier, and you won't impulse buy, or buy another skirt when you already have five.

Not sure what to pair with your key item? I say stick to the basics. Crisp white button down is a must. Black jacket in a moto or blazer style (whatever you feel more comfortable with) is another must have. These two items alone will be able to mix and match with almost anything in your closet. Then you can start pulling colors in your key items for sweaters, blouses, etc. Just don't forget your shoes. Even if you work at home mostly, or are a stay at home mom. You will leave the house more than you realize, and you will need something to put on your feet.

I hope this was helpful. Enjoy the video, and do let me know how you get on with your uniform choices.
