It's the Little Things

Have you ever gotten a dress and thought, "I don't know..." but then you waited 24 hours before trying it on again only to realize that this was an amazing piece of clothing, and where had it been all your life? Signal this green floral dress I purchased from Nordstrom Rack earlier this summer by DR2.

Dresses are tricky to style 3 completely different ways. Especially in the summer when you don't necessarily want to be adding more layers. So I'm sharing a couple tips on how to add and take away accessories for a change in the mood of the dress.

I've taken away the emerald green handbag, and added a brown leather belt. Adding the belt takes this from a casual dress to a more work appropriate style. Swap out the necklace for something simpler (if that's your style) and you've got an office appropriate workwear option. It doesn't just have to be for work though. It could take you to a lunch date, running errands, or going on adventures with your kiddos.

For this third version, I've added a jacket and switched out the necklace. By adding a jersey jacket in a light tan (called latte by the brand) you're adding a layer of sophistication to the dress that the short sleeve version doesn't have. I've kept the leather belt, but swapped out the pendant for a simple gold chain necklace. I've also added nude pumps. Again this look would be great for the office, a meeting, or going to brunch at a nicer restaurant. The dress itself is playful and feminine so there's no chance that this outfit is boring, but adding some neutral tones plays down the pattern and brings up the sophistication factor. Bonus, this jersey jacket is called a luncheon jacket...just sayin'.
