Shopping Off Season

Over the last few months I've been buying my clothing off season. I've run into some really amazing deals, and some oops moments. Because I'm a maven (thank you Malcolm Gladwell) I wanted to share some tips as well as some pro's and cons of shopping this way.
TIPS
Make a list of your must have items that you need to replace. For example, white T-shirts, black pencil skirt, etc.
Rank those items in order of necessity, and don't forget shoes and accessories.
Before you purchase something, even if it is a great deal, think about what you already have that could go with said new purchase. It's not a deal if you have to create a whole new wardrobe around it.
If you are going through a major physical change (pregnant, post-partum, going through major weight loss) you might want to take a step back and ask yourself, can I get dressed for the next week/month? This way you are giving yourself some time before spending money on something that might not fit in a month.
PRO
You can purchase great quality pieces at a fraction of the price.
CON
Sometimes you hit a final sale item, and really need to know your size otherwise you're wasting your money.
PRO
Trends don't usually change that dramatically from year to year so you're probably going to see similar items in the New category of a store.
CON
You won't be able to get the hottest newest color/cut/fabrication
PRO
You can stock up on items that are staples in your wardrobe or things you know you need from your list you made before you started this process. Staples here don't necessarily mean boring. If you love wearing skirt, then stock up on skirts.
CON
You might tie up a significant amount of money in your off season wardrobe and lose out of some fun new pieces.
I hope you enjoy the video and the blog post about how to create the wardrobe of your dreams and save some money at the same time.
