Wake Up and Get Dressed

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday. Today I wanted to talk about the fun and mood lifting capabilities of getting dressed. No matter what your job, or whether or not you leave the house, getting dressed up for life makes it more enjoyable. Do you have to put a little more thought into it? Yes. Does it cost more? Possibly. Do you feel better and become more productive? YES!!!
Let me paint you a picture. I am a stay at home Mama. In the morning (like 5:00 am friends) I work out, listen for noise from the kiddos, and get myself ready or help with breakfast. I then get the kids dressed everyday. My husband, who works at the house and goes into the office, gets dressed everyday. Why shouldn't I get dressed too? I love my job, and I love my life. Is there something that says I'm not worth it to get dressed up? I don't wear a suit... or shoes some days, but how you see me in my videos is how I dress.
There is something special that happens to your energy and your mentality for the day when you get dressed. You are telling your mind that you are going to be present for the day, and that you are happy to be here. The only time I don't get dressed up is when I'm really sick, or the kiddos are super sick. Think about that for a moment. We all have "comfy" clothes for those times when we need to be cradled in an oversized sweater and taken care of, even if it's just by our clothes. When our bodies and brains ache because of sickness or we're just wiped out from life. Think about that. If you aren't getting dressed and you're constantly wearing your "comfy" clothes aren't you telling your body, your mind/spirit, and the world that you are in sick and tired mode?
I am all for clothes that feel comfortable, are life appropriate, and move with me instead of against me. But, you know what? The way I dress is comfortable to me. Maybe you're a suit kind of gal, or more of a jeans, T-shirt, and blazer gal. Whatever your style, take a moment to think about how you are showing up everyday, and how you are portraying yourself through your clothes.
Have a fabulous first weekend of September my friends. For those of you who are starting school or have kiddos who are about to start, enjoy this weekend! Amazing things are coming your way. For everyone else, check out all the crazy labor day sales on clothes from your favorite stores, and of course find some time to be present with family and friends.
