Weekend Inspiration: Green Shorts

There's a YouTuber, Lace & Lashes, who does these great try on hauls. Her name is Carin and she seems like such a fun person with great style that I watch her content every week. Carin often talks about outfits being great for Sunday Best, which got me inspired for the coming weekend. While I wouldn't categorize this outfit as a Sunday Best, I would say that it is a fun way to celebrate the weekend with the kiddos and hubby.

WHY THIS OUTFIT WORKS

Let's break down the outfit and take out the colors. What?! Yes, I find that if you are drawn to something on Pinterest, YouTube, or other social media platforms but can't figure out why take out the color of the outfit and it helps to break down the pieces and why they work.

Let's talk about the shorts. These are plain shorts that just happen to be green. I've paired them with a gingham button down shirt that also happens to be green. Get my drift? You could swap in navy shorts with a navy patterned top, purple shorts with a purple patterned top, etc. Every season I try to push myself outside of my comfort zone with at least one item that seems a little crazy. Apparently to me, green shorts is a little crazy.

When you're thinking about using a louder color, or a color that feels out of your comfort zone try pairing it with something that is similar in color with a pattern or texture. All of a sudden it doesn't seem to loud or crazy. This outfit screams weekend fun!
