Weekend Inspiration:Purple Blouse & Jeans | Running Errands Outfit

Sometimes in the summer I just need a break from wearing a skirt or dress. Perhaps because I ran out of slips to wear under them, it's laundry day, or I know I'm going to be on the floor with my kiddos an extra amount that day. No matter what the reason having a few summer pant outfit options are nice.

Running errands looks easy with a blouse and jeans

Let's take it from the top. When we talk about how to put an outfit together everything counts from the hair down to your toes. Can you get a little bananas about this and travel down a rabbit hole? Yes. Do you need to? No...unless you really enjoy analyzing that sort of thing, but that's what I'm here for. When I'm doing a bunch of chores, running errands for the family or hanging out on the floor all day my hair usually ends up in a side pony. Why? Because I have a one year old who really likes to play peek-a-boo, and grab my hair at some point. So keep the hair easy, whatever that means for you.

Next the blouse. We're not even going with a pattern today. Instead of going with a T-shirt I've changed it out for a blouse with a little detailing on the sleeves. Pairing this with jeans is a great way to go to keep it a grab and go outfit. I can bake bread, do arts and crafts, and see people while running said errands without thinking about whether or not my outfit can stand the test of motherhood.

Now let's talk accessories. So in the above photographs I opted for a BIG tote. When you're running lots of errands it can be nice to have a big bag. Like when you're doing a bunch of returns, or stocking up on books at the library (I've made this mistake before). You could opt for a smaller bag if you're going to be in and out of stores or grocery shopping.

Shoes. Again chose something that appropriate for the amount of time you'll be on your feet and whether or not you're pushing a cart, carrying a kiddo or two, or playing at the park. Wedges are a great option for the summer as well as flat sandals. I went with two shoe options. My go to park shoes and flat gladiator inspired sandals. The park shoes are a great way to go when you know there will be running, wood chips, and generally bouncing between kiddos. The sandals are great when I'm going out in public to stores. Both are super comfy, blush colored, and compliment the outfit.

Last but not least, let's talk about the necklace. This statement necklace says "Hi! I'm a put together, sophisticated Mama on the Go." Take away this statement necklace and the outfit becomes a little lack lustre. Switch it out for a pendant or cool statement earrings? Go for it! Choose something that brings a little shine to your outfit since everything else is muted down.
