What to Wear to a Shower

During the summer there are lots of fun events filled with family and friends. After confirming your attendance, the panic may begin to set in. The question is always, what do I wear?

When it comes to baby showers and wedding showers I think the perfect and easiest answer is always a dress. But I'm a dress gal. For me, you can never go wrong with a dress, big sunnies and a clutch. This "shower uniform" says that you're glad to have been invited and attend the event, but it also says I look good and I'm ready to mingle. When I'm not sure about the seating availability of the event I always wear a midi or maxi dress. Sometimes you find yourself doing a shower game on the floor, or there might not be enough chairs during the opening of gifts.

Because the focus is not on you as a guest you should keep your accessories to a minimum. Nothing too flashy. You want to look good without drawing too much attention. For this pink dress I've chosen some suede blue teardrop earrings. The color says I'm having fun with my look, but I'm not being garish.

I hope this blog post was helpful on what to wear to a shower. However, don't keep these kinds of dresses tucked away for special occasions only. Rachel Zoe likes to say that people are too precious with their clothing, and I agree. Wear your clothes doing normal things like grocery shopping, playing with your kids, and going to the zoo (I've done all of these things in this dress and had no complications). Remember, dresses aren't scary. In fact they are super easy. You can throw one on, add one piece of jewelry, a bag, and shoes and you look like you put a lot of effort into your look, but really you just decided to not wear jeans or workout gear outside of the house.
