What to Wear to Afternoon Tea in the Fall

My husband and I love to take afternoon tea for special occasions. It is a great way to spend time together without our devices, work, etc. All you can do during afternoon tea is sip tea, eat delicious food, and talk. However, what I didn't have in my wardrobe was something to wear to tea.
Now, afternoon tea is a sacred thing for me. I can easily be pushed into Jane Austin land, which is not where I wanted to go this time. It's simply too cold where I live. I want to be respectful of the surroundings and the event. This means nothing super tight or short. Short skirts are a no no to afternoon tea according to ediquette experts from England. What does that leave us with? A midi dress! This type of dress is perfect for such an occasion, and you can wear it for other family gatherings like Thanksgiving or when you're feeling "extra" as the kids say these days.
I also know I'm going to be sitting for a few hours so I didn't want anything that would make a lot of noise when I moved, like faux leather. You have to watch the suede and faux suede as well, because when you stand up it could leave interesting marks on your bum. Overthinking it? Possibly, but this means I can truly relax and enjoy my time at afternoon tea.
Of course I ran out of time to order a plethora of dresses online, so instead I went shopping in person. What a treat! I discovered a new store, Evereve. This is the dress I found along with belt and necklace. I was thrilled when I tried it on, and I love the extra styling details as well. I feel polished and dressed up, but not over the top. The focus is on the food and conversation, not what I'm wearing. Think Kate Middleton.
