What to Wear to Movie Night With Friends

Are you starting to host some friend nights? At my house, our social calendar is kind of exploding right now. My husband's birthday is this month, and we are in full swing with the festivities. Let me just say, that for me, being well dressed makes life more fun and the get togethers more exciting. So what do you wear to a casual movie night or dinner with friends?

COMFORTABLY PUT TOGETHER

Regardless if you're hosting or attending a casual get-together it is more fun to go dressed comfortably, but still put together. What does this mean? At my house, we don't have a huge couch so someone (me) will be sitting on the floor or in a chair borrowed from the dining room. Is this a time for a shorter skirt? Probably not. We're talking pizza, munchies, and lots of laughter with friends. I don't want to be worrying if my skirt is riding up, or whether or not I can move my legs to be more comfy while holding my pizza and chocolate brioche pretzel (Smitten Kitchen's recipe is heavenly!).

PANTS

Enter pants. I say whatever pants you feel like you look great in, you should wear. Build your outfit from this point. You also might want to consider that not everyone is going to have the same heating sensitivities as you. So layer up a bit, and you can always take off a jacket or scarf as needed. The important thing is to relax, and enjoy the company while looking amazing. My go to casual outfit right now is a pair of jeans (Ann Taylor LOFT) and a sweater (Design History), with possibly a thermal or long sleeve t-shirt underneath.

FINAL TIP

My last tip for a casual night in with friends is to think about the no shoe issue. What? That's right, you're going over to someone else's house. You're probably not going to be wearing shoes, unless you bring some "indoor" shoes to wear. Keep this in mind when assembling your outfit. Seem a little over the top? Maybe, but I know I have outfits that require a great shoes to pull the whole thing together and if said shoe is not being worn, then the outfit doesn't make any sense. Savy?

I hope this was helpful, and stay tuned for more "What to Wear" blog posts.
