Skirts you say? Yes friends. I love a good skirt in the fall. I'm also adding some to my winter wardrobe as well right now during all these crazy pre-black Friday deals. Now, as always please don't feel like you need these exact items of clothing. This blog and my channel are all about educating and sharing styling tips, tricks, and ideas. I will rarely tell you that you need to buy this exact thing...with the exception of books. So take these ideas, tips, and tricks and apply them to items you have in your wardrobe or are on your wish list.
I like to use holidays and family gatherings as an excuse to amp up my wardrobe and add something new and fresh. It makes me feel extra excited about the get together, and then I have good memories associated with those clothes. However, do make sure you try out said new clothes first. You don't want to wear something new to a function or gathering only to realize that you hate it, or you wish you would have added one extra layer for warmth, etc.

OUTFIT 1
That's right the blue tweed skirt is back again. Because of the navy thread woven into the skirt it makes it a perfect candidate for Thanksgiving...or maybe that's just because I really like this skirt and wear a lot of navy. Navy, and blue in general, is a calming color. So if you are heading into a gathering that might need a dose of calm wear something blue. It might not technically be a festive fall color, but you'll look good and feel good... so who cares?
Why does this outfit work? It works because you're keeping a cohesive palette of colors. Nothing is screaming at you for attention. When going to gatherings, like Thanksgiving, where the point of the gathering is to eat and reconnect it's nice to wear something less "look at me!" Also, if you are like me and want to balance out a bigger bottom half then add some bulk up top, especially if you're wearing a darker color on top. This will keep the eye going up and down instead of stopping on the skirt. If you wore a navy top with a jacket that would be even better. For shoes, you're probably going to be taking them off at said gathering so keep that in mind with your tights. No holes please.

OUTFIT 2
This is THE coziest outfit for fall and for Thanksgiving. The sweater, though a simple weave, feels chunky and boyfriendy. It is a boxier fit, so tucking it into the skirt, which has a more classic a-line/shift shape really works and keeps this outfit fresh and modern.
It is important, again, when balancing out a skirt that has cream and white threads running through it, that you balance that on the top. If I were to wear a form fitting sweater or top in a darker color all you would notice would be the skirt. This is not where I want you to look. I want to keep the eye moving or move to my face. So if you ever feel off about an outfit, check your color and shape situation before freaking out and starting over.

OUTFIT 3
When I put this outfit on I literally said out loud, "Wow!" I was not expecting that reaction when I grabbed this shirt and skirt combo. It's so simple. It's so chic. Usually I like to add los of texture detail, but something about the simplicity of this outfit really works. Keep the whole thing European with a low heeled boot and simple jewelry. It's eye catching without being over the top. You can go anywhere and do anything in an outfit like this.
