Tomorrow I'm going to post a video that I have been wanting to make since I started my channel and blog. It is from the September issue of Vogue 2007, and styled by the incredible Grace Coddington. If you haven't seen it, you NEED to, it is gorgeous! There's also a movie about that specific September issue, called "The September Issue." It is amazing, insightful, and inspiring.

When I started this look I wasn't sure if I was going to go full on flapper with the hair and everything, but then I finished and thought why not? Hence the extra photos. When you're doing a smokey eye like this with a darker lip there are a few things to consider.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
It must be stated first, where are you going? There is a time and a place for makeup like this and going heavy on the eye and the lip is usually not everyday wearable. If you're going to a 1920's event then this would be perfection. Going out for Halloween or New Years as a flapper or 1920's starlet, yes! Picking up your kiddos at the bus station...no. I say this because once you get makeup on yourself like this you start to think, wow!, where can I wear this look? You almost feel like you're wearing a mask, and you definitely feel different. Do not let this fun new feeling take over and go do a Target run with your kiddos. Trust me.
Other things to consider, if you wanted to take this look and tone it down for said parties or a more wearable look then choose one aspect of the look that you like. Are you into eyes? Are you into lips? Choose one and then go for it. The smokey eye is back, especially with older women and I think they look fabulous. So rock it girlfriend.

Last but not least, make sure you are correcting and using a good concealer with this look. When you are playing with darker grey tones it can really sap the life out of your skin and pop any purple that's there. You also want to make sure you don't go too black with your eyeshadow otherwise we are looking at a different kind of tutorial. Savy? Excellent, now on to those fabulous 1920's parties!
