I've always heard that changing your accessories can change an outfit completely. However, I've usually heard this said about a navy or black clothing. While these are amazing staples to have in your wardrobe...what if I wanted to add a pop of color to my summer wardrobe? Can you style a colorful dress multiple ways just by using different accessories? ABSOLUTELY!

Let's begin by talking about this dress. It is a coral, jersey midi dress. The only detailing on this dress is at the top with some ruching (a French word that means to gather, ruffle, or pleat). I call it a simple dress not only because it has hardly any detail, but also because it is made of jersey. So for all my mama wonder women out there jersey is great for all the loving sticking fingers that are coming your way on a day to day basis. It washes well, and usually won't stain (depending on the quality and color).

Option 1:
I've chosen a gold triple layer necklace (I like to call this my goddess necklace, as written about in 3 Ways to Wear Black Shorts) to create a longer neckline and play into the warmth of the coral dress. This option feels easy, breezy, and oh so summery. Could you wear a gold pendant instead? Yes, however I feel like a simple necklace and a simple dress don't usually compliment one another unless paired with some fabulous shoes. They just end up blending in and making the focus of the outfit muddy.

Option 2:
We are swapping out the metallic necklace for some suede leather earrings. The beauty of this option is that not only have I introduced a new texture to the outfit, I've also added a color that pops and compliments the coral dress. Instead of going with a gold or silver earring which would have been a safer choice, I added another color which makes the outfit more interesting, but not so interesting that people are left staring at you thinking "do you want to tell her or should I?".

Option 3:
This is definitely my favorite option. We're playing off of the idea of Option 1 & 2. In this option we play with color, texture, and neckline. Instead of going with a blue statement necklace, I went with a green. This green is not a "greeny green," it has a little warm blue in there to make it interesting and not Christmasy. The necklace also has a lot of movement in the stones creating another texture for the eye to take in. BONUS: This option looks great with a straw hat and huge sunnies as well. Option 3 says I know what I'm about. I'm a sophisticated lady, but I didn't spend an hour putting this look together.
