This is the month for trying out new looks and being a bit more creative with makeup. At least it is for makeup people. Instead of sharing how to's about traditional Halloween makeup, I wanted to recreate makeup from one of my favorite movies: How To Steal A Million with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. I saw this film a few years ago and have watched it many times since. The makeup and costuming are to die for when it comes to Audrey. I couldn't resist diving into her movie makeup world this month.

First of all, you have to take a movie makeup look and think about the time period and who the character is. This look is the first time we see Audrey Hepburn's character. In this scene she pulls down her sunglasses (AKA sunnies) while listening to the radio about an art sale. We, as the audience, see not only her shocked expression about what has just occurred in the movie, but her killer makeup and wardrobe. Right away we can infer that Audrey's character is stylish, has money, and knows how to put herself together.
Something else to keep in mind when recreating a movie look is that you can always tone it down for a more modern version. However, good makeup is just good makeup. Knowing how to do looks like this will help you in the future when you want to try something else, or know when to tone it down.

Another thing to take note of, is that copying a makeup look from anywhere may take you a little longer, especially if you are really committing. Give yourself some grace, and some extra time to play with how the makeup is working on your facial features. You might not be able to get it completely the same based on facial structure and skin tone, but with a little extra time stepping back and assessing you can get pretty close.
