Butterscotch Makeup Look

We are in the middle of winter, and my mind is on neutrals these days. Reworking them, amping them up, and creating cohesive looks from the head down to the toes. When creating cohesive looks this does include your makeup. If everything talks to one another, then the look feels effortless, even when it's not.

CHECK YOUR CONCEALER COLOR

When was the last time you thought about your concealer color? Are you using it to do highlighting or are you wanting it to blend into the skin a little bit more? I was recently struck by some of my older photos at how light my under eye area was compared with my face. It made me rethink what I wanted to use from my concealer. I decided to try out a new shade, and I couldn't be happier. I have under eye circles that can get major, especially when I'm feeling under the weather, so I don't want to highlight that area. I just want to correct the purple and blue under there and blend it into the skin.

BOUNCE YOUR BRUSH

Don't be afraid to use your foundation brush like a sponge. Depending on what kind of brush you have, using a bouncing motion can really help to push the product into the skin verses a blending motion. It will give you more coverage and it will also help the foundation stick to your skin longer.

CHANGE UP YOUR POWDER

Going along with revamping your concealer, when was the last time you thought about your powder? I'm dry and dehydrated so I don't use a lot of powder. However, from all my years working at Sephora, I know the importance of using the right powder. If you want to get rid of redness, use something with yellow. If you want something with shine go with a highlighting powder from Hourglass. Maybe you just want to set your makeup. Try Bobbi Brown or Charlotte Tilbury.
