Tips & Tricks to Brighten Your Complexion

Hello my lovely friends! Today I wanted to share a few tips and tricks on brightening up your complexion, and the fastest way to liven up the face when you're feeling like you need a little something. This is a great look for my natural beauties out there, and it's also a great one for anyone who is not feeling their best, or it's that time of month when you need a little something to add color back into the face.

Here are a few tips to add color and liveliness to the face fast.

  1. Color correct any discoloration, like blues, reds, and purples in the skin

  2. More mascara

  3. Add a bright lip that complements your eye color and then mimic that color in your blush

When you take away blues, purples, and reds (or high color) in the skin you look healthier and younger. If you aren't feeling your best, you might need to go in with a heavier concealer. I love my MAC Conceal & Correct palette for such days.

When you build up your lash line you are subconsciously telling everyone that you are young and healthy. Charlotte Tilbury shared in one of her videos that historically it was thought that women with big and fuller lashes were more fertile and therefore more interesting to the opposite sex. If you've seen any of my tutorials you know I'm a huge fan of Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eye Mascara. I haven't found anything to beat it. Just make sure you have a good makeup remover, because once it's on, it's on.

The fastest way to liven up your complexion is to add a bright pop of color on the lips. If you can find a blush color that mimics or plays nicely with that shade then you are taking your look to the next level. The closer our cheek and lip colors match the younger and healthier we look. I'm wearing one of Lisa Eldridge's new Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colours in Je Ne Sais Qoui. It's a definite color on the lips, but it brightens my skin and my eyes. This shade would be great for any eye color, and on Lisa's website you can see all of her products on multiple skin tones to judge for yourself if it's right for you.
