Vanessa Van Edwards Book Cover Makeup Look

If you read my book review on Vanessa Van Edwards book Captivate you know that I'm kind of obsessed with it and with her. She is so giving in her results and personal stories I truly appreciate all the work she is doing for people, businesses, and relationships. As soon as I saw her book cover I thought that her makeup was gorgeous and very applicable to everyday life. It might be a slight step up for some for everyday, but I think it's a lovely beauty look for anytime you want to look polished but not over the top. It obviously photographs well, and let's everyone see you and not the makeup.

TIPS FOR THIS LOOK

It is 100% OK to layer your eyeshadows multiple times until you get the desired depth. Don't feel like you're supposed to go in there once and get what you're looking for, especially if you are trying to create that almond eye look with three or more shadows. It takes a little extra time, but the end result is worth it.

Also, please don't forget to breath and relax your face. I say this a lot, but in the moment of doing your makeup when the kids are running around and reaching in and out of your makeup drawer trying to grab stuff, and someone is crying in the background because they can't get their doll dressed...take a moment to fix everything and then take a breath to relax your features and see where you're actually placing your shadow. On my face if I have surprised face then my shadow will get lost in the crease area once I'm done and looking at myself. Your skin on your face moves depending on your facial expression so be as relaxed as you can while putting on your makeup and then your makeup will move well with all your facial expressions.

If you have lighter hair don't be afraid of a slightly darker brow. Sometimes going darker on the brow can add a pop of structure to your face. Especially if you have a fair to light skin tone and your hair color is close to your skin color. Using a medium or darker brown mixed in with your lighter brow colors can really help balance out a more complex eye makeup look.

Enjoy the tutorial tomorrow, and please do check out Vanessa's book Captivate and my review of it here.
