Winter Skincare

This week we're taking a little break from the "What to Wear" series and focusing on winter skincare. When the weather turns truly cold (20 degrees F or below), my skin freaks out. How can it not? The heat is on all the time and the shower temps are rising. All this hot cold air and water hitting your skin can cause a multitude of freak outs. For me, I'm dehydrated (lack of water) and dry (lack of oil), so I need something with hyaluronic acid and an oil to help my skin through the winter months.

PRODUCTS I'M ADDING

I've been trying out Biossance for months now, and am happy to report that they are my new all around skincare go to. When something from them runs out, I'm very likely to repurchase before trying another brand. From this company I've adding in the Squalane + Retinol Night Serum as well as their Squalene + Glycolic Renewal Mask. These two items are working miracles on my skin right now. I can feel a difference right away when I use these products. The retinol helps kick start skin cells that have been damaged by the sun and other skin aggressors, and the mask is magical with chemical exfoliation.

I'm also adding a thicker facial oil and moisturizer. I've been a fan of Sunday Riley's facial oils for a long time, especially Juno. When the weather turns cold this is my go to oil for balancing my skin. However, word to the wise, if you wear makeup, use it at night because it is thicker and can break up your foundation quickly if you don't have time to let it sink into the skin.

Bobbi Brown's ultra moisturizer is another of my tried and true winter skincare staples. It's thicker than her regular moisturizer, and again I use it at night so it doesn't mess with my foundation. When it is truly dry out that my skin is like breaking when I move it, then it goes on in the morning too and I forget about the foundation disappearing shortly after I apply it.

Enjoy amping up your winter skincare essentials. If your skin type is like mine, then I would recommend adding some kind of oil, a hydrating toner, and exfoliator.
